What you'll find here:

This blog is a collection of vintage advertisements, posted Monday through Friday. All ads are scans from magazines in my collection (or those of my friends), so I claim no copyright over them. Remember, these ads are from bygone eras: don't get upset if you see something you don't like, nor excited if you see something you do.

If you particularly like an ad and want a hi-res copy for yourself, email or message me and I can send you one.

Yashica Cameras

Playboy Jan. 1969
I've never heard of Yashica, which makes sense because they got bought up and stopped producing cameras in 2005.  They must have been good though, since that $115 price tag works out to about $740 in 2014 dollars.
Ad text:
Cover photographer Charles Varon made only one exposure for this picture.  Without flash.  He used a Yashica Electro 35.
Ordinarily, he would have "insured" himself with a dozen of more shots.  But he knows the radically different electronic shutter selects the precise exposure in a range from 1/500th through 30 full seconds.
He also knows the camera will take some hard knocks, since its unique solid state computer is cased in epoxy. Get the picture?
With Yashinon f/1.7 lens, under $115 plus case. Complete kit, under $220.
