What you'll find here:

This blog is a collection of vintage advertisements, posted Monday through Friday. All ads are scans from magazines in my collection (or those of my friends), so I claim no copyright over them. Remember, these ads are from bygone eras: don't get upset if you see something you don't like, nor excited if you see something you do.

If you particularly like an ad and want a hi-res copy for yourself, email or message me and I can send you one.

1969 Harley Davidson

Playboy Jan. 1969
I promise, this is not the same ad as this one I ran a couple weeks ago.  But it appears that HD ran a series of similar ads over the years each featuring a different bike.  This one is for the 1969 Sportster.

Ad text:
Track, salt, street or strip, one bike is boss! The 1969 Sportster.  Alone at the top.  Nobody builds a faster stock motorcycle.  Both the lean, angry model CH and the quick, confident model H deliver 900 cc's of pumch and 58 bhp @ 6800 rpm.  The Sportster really flies.  And it looks as fast as it goes.  The re-styled tank almost leans foreward in anticipation.  Newly-designed cylinder heads and new mufflers with crossover connector add a few horses to what's already the world's fastest motorcycle.  Again in 1969, it's the only one of it's kind.  Try one. You can see it, buy it, finance and insure it at your Harley-Davidson dealer.
