What you'll find here:

This blog is a collection of vintage advertisements, posted Monday through Friday. All ads are scans from magazines in my collection (or those of my friends), so I claim no copyright over them. Remember, these ads are from bygone eras: don't get upset if you see something you don't like, nor excited if you see something you do.

If you particularly like an ad and want a hi-res copy for yourself, email or message me and I can send you one.

Yamaha's Swinging World

Playboy Sept. 1966
Yamaha's answer to Honda's scooter offering, the BMOC-60 is a smaller-engined vehicle with even better (200 mpg!) efficiency. I'd like to point out that BMOC apparently really does mean "Big Man On Campus," although I couldn't find a third party source to verify this.  Please note that this scooter, like the Honda one, also bears a man giving a ride to a lady carrying an instrument.

Advice to all scooterists:  if you pick up a girl, be sure you enjoy ukulele or tuba.

Ad text:
Change your image this fall.  Be on a BMOC-60.  In scholastic semantics that means "Big Man on Campus 60." It also means you've arrived at the Swinging World.  The Campus 60 looks like a big machine... telescopic front forks, center tank, upswept pipe.  It acts like a big machine... plenty of pep, terrific handling, powerful waterproof and dustproof brakes.  Yet it costs little to own... $285... and operate... up to 200 miles per gallon.  Think of the advantages... no parking problem, low insurance rates.  You can sleep in a little later and still make it to classes or work. And when it comes to making new friends, watch those girls thaw when you give them a lift on your Campus 60.  What are you waiting for?  You can be a BMOC-60. See your Yamaha dealer.
